Due to the recent situation surrounding COVID-19, all summer activities for USD 281 have been postponed until July 18. We will reassess the situation at that time to determine our course of action. Please understand that our student/athletes, coaches and communities are our highest priority.
The Hill City High School Commencement ceremony will be held on Friday, July 17, at 7:00 p.m. in the high school gymnasium. After taking into consideration the COVID-19 activity in our county and surrounding areas, the decision has been made to follow a limited attendance format for the ceremony. Each graduate will be issued ten tickets for admission of family and friends. Seating on the gymnasium floor will be reserved for graduates and faculty only, with each family assigned (by random drawing) a specific area in the bleachers. The ceremony will be recorded and streamed on social media. Hill City High School officials express a sincere desire to honor their graduates while recognizing the current health concerns in our community. It is respectfully requested that all in attendance wear protective masks, social distance, and use hand sanitizer upon entering the facility. Also, please do not attend the ceremony if you are feeling ill, running a fever, or experiencing any other symptoms. We want to keep our communities and county healthy.

A MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
USD 281 is requesting the public’s help in staying off the newly sodded football field. We are watering the field and the new grass calls for an extreme amount of water so the roots can establish themselves. So, we are asking, for the ENTIRE summer, NO activities and no walking on the field until September 2020. We are watering enough, that even walking on the field will leave holes in the field. Please help us by staying off the field. You are more than welcome to go into the stands and take a look at the field.
Thanks,
Dale Deighton
Superintendent

Go Ringnecks!
Senior students across the state reached out to the Kansas Department of Education because they wanted to recognize the class of 2020 in some way state wide. This student effort has resulted in Senior Appreciation Day which will take place Wednesday, May 20. We’d love for our seniors to participate! See the flyer for more information.
Wow! The way our community came together to offer Kids Summer Cafe during these uncertain times is amazing! This was a massive undertaking and the Graham County Health Department along with 45+ volunteers did a phenomenal job providing this service to Hill City and surrounding communities. Thank you for all you've done! Check out our Facebook page to see a fun video showing some highlights from this program.
